TECHNOLOGY AT A GLANCE

Explore the capabilities

800G OSFP connectivity

Connect compatible XDR InfiniBand and Ethernet fabrics through a single high-density OSFP port.

SocketDirect architecture

Support compatible server designs that extend high-speed PCIe connectivity beyond a conventional single-host NIC layout.

Multi-Host capable

With compatible C8180X auxiliary hardware and server support, one adapter can connect to two host systems through two PCIe x8 links.

RDMA and RoCEv2 acceleration

Support efficient data movement between compatible GPUs, storage, hosts, and network fabrics.

Scale server connectivity beyond the NIC

The C8180 SocketDirect SuperNIC brings 800G fabric connectivity to compatible advanced server designs. Its SocketDirect and Multi-Host capabilities support architectures that need to efficiently connect more compute resources to high-bandwidth AI and HPC networks.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Built into the system

800G XDR network connectivity

The C8180 provides one OSFP network port with up to 800Gb/s of total adapter bandwidth. It is designed for high-density AI, HPC, cloud, and storage infrastructure that requires a high-bandwidth server connection into the network fabric.

InfiniBand and Ethernet flexibility

ConnectX-8 supports compatible InfiniBand and Ethernet deployments. InfiniBand supports speeds up to 800Gb/s, while Ethernet supports compatible 25Gb/s, 50Gb/s, 100Gb/s, 200Gb/s, 400Gb/s, and 800Gb/s connections.

SocketDirect server architecture

This ST0 model supports SocketDirect designs for compatible server platforms. It is distinct from the C8180 Downstream Port model and should be selected only when the server architecture supports the SocketDirect configuration.

Multi-Host expansion capability

With a compatible C8180X auxiliary card and MCIO harness, the C8180 SocketDirect model can split its PCIe x16 connection into two PCIe x8 connections for two compatible host systems. The C8180X accessory is required for this deployment and is sold separately.

RDMA and AI workload acceleration

RDMA, RoCEv2, and GPUDirect RDMA support efficient data movement across compatible systems and fabrics. These capabilities help reduce CPU overhead for distributed AI training, high-performance storage, and communication-intensive HPC workloads.

Traffic control and platform security

Advanced programmable congestion control, quality of service, and telemetry capabilities help manage high-volume network traffic. Secure boot, secure firmware update, flash encryption, and device attestation support platform-level security requirements.
