TECHNOLOGY AT A GLANCE

Explore the capabilities

20 U.2 NVMe storage bays

Build high-density storage for AI datasets, databases, backup repositories, private cloud services, and other data-intensive workloads with up to 20 compatible U.2 NVMe SSDs.

100G network connectivity

Two 100G QSFP28 ports, four 25G SFP28 ports, four 10G SFP+ ports, and two multigigabit Ethernet ports provide flexible high-speed connectivity across storage and network infrastructure.

RouterOS storage and compute

The Special ROSE Edition of RouterOS supports modular storage configurations, block-device exports, encryption options, RAID, and OCI-compatible containers.

Designed for resilient infrastructure

Dual hot-swappable power supplies, Layer 3 hardware offloading, and a rack-ready 1U design help create a dependable platform for business-critical storage and network services.

High-speed storage and networking in one platform

The ROSE Data Server combines high-density NVMe storage with flexible 100G, 25G, and 10G connectivity for private infrastructure, data-heavy applications, and high-performance storage deployments.

  • 100G network uplinks: Two QSFP28 ports provide high-bandwidth connectivity for compatible switches, servers, storage fabrics, and compute environments.
  • Flexible high-speed expansion: Four 25G SFP28 ports, four 10G SFP+ ports, and two multigigabit Ethernet ports support a mix of high-speed fiber and copper network connections.
  • Twenty U.2 NVMe storage bays: Twenty PCIe Gen 3 U.2 trays support compatible NVMe SSDs for high-density storage. Drives are sold separately.
  • Storage-focused RouterOS services: The Special ROSE Edition of RouterOS supports flexible storage configurations, including NVMe-TCP, iSCSI, RAID, encryption layers, and containerized services.
  • Additional infrastructure connections: An SFF-8644 interface, two M.2 SATA slots, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, and a dedicated 1G Ethernet port add flexibility for compatible peripherals, management, and storage configurations.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Built into the system

Twenty U.2 NVMe drive bays

The RDS2216 includes 20 PCIe Gen 3 trays for compatible U.2 NVMe SSDs up to 7mm in height. This provides flexible, high-density storage for private AI data, object storage, databases, backup repositories, and large file workloads. SSDs are not included with the server.

High-speed 100G, 25G, and 10G connectivity

Two 100G QSFP28 ports provide high-bandwidth uplinks for compatible network and compute environments. The system also includes four 25G SFP28 ports, four 10G SFP+ ports, two multigigabit Ethernet ports supporting up to 10Gbps, and one 1G Ethernet port for flexible deployment options.

RouterOS Special ROSE Edition

The RDS2216 runs RouterOS v7 Special ROSE Edition with a Level 6 license. It supports storage-focused capabilities including NVMe-TCP block-device exports, iSCSI, RAID configurations, encryption layers, and modular storage services, without an additional software subscription.

16-core Arm processing with ECC memory

A 16-core 2GHz AL73400 Arm processor and 32GB of ECC DDR4 memory provide processing resources for networking, storage services, containers, and infrastructure tasks. The platform is designed to combine these functions rather than requiring separate storage and routing hardware.

Containers and self-hosted services

The RDS2216 supports OCI-compatible containers, making it suitable for services such as MinIO object storage, Nextcloud, monitoring tools, camera-management software, and other self-hosted applications. Two M.2 SATA slots and USB connectivity provide additional flexibility for compatible deployments.

Layer 3 hardware offloading and redundant power

The integrated Marvell 98DX4310 switch chip supports Layer 3 hardware offloading for compatible RouterOS configurations. Dual hot-swappable AC power supplies help maintain operation if one power supply requires replacement, while the 1U chassis fits standard rack deployments.
